Gleich zwei Ausstellungen widmen sich Ende des Jahres einem der bedeutendsten deutschen Maler und Grafiker (1884–1950) der Zwischenkriegszeit. In München steht bei »Departure« das für Beckmann lebensbestimmende Thema der Reise im Mittelpunkt der Schau mit rund 100 Werken – vom Sommerurlaub bis hin zu Flucht, Entwurzelung und Exil. In Aachen fokussiert sich die Ausstellung dagegen auf Beckmanns Werk als Grafiker: 120 Radierungen und Holzschnitte dokumentieren die Entwicklung seiner einzigartigen Bildsprache in diesem Medium.…
