Judging quality architecture is not an exact science. It is fraught with the challenge of how to assess a varying range of projects in many categories objectively. As a collective, the 2023 jury sought to give projects big and small, with varying degrees of challenge in terms of site, budget and client brief, an equal opportunity to be heard. After a few days of assessing all of the eligible entries, we settled on a huge short list of 61, and packed our bags to go on tour. The jury tour is an amazing privilege: to get on the road and go beyond 2D plans and images, to experience, physically and first-hand, places to work, play, learn and live.
