TROPHY GETS A GLOW UP

First designed in 2011 by model-maker Minka Ip, the Interior Awards trophy has changed several times over the years, both in size and shape, and in materiality. This year marks the launch of a new trophy by local designer and maker Alistair Munro, who holds a Bachelor of Architectural Studies and MArch (Prof) from the University of Auckland. “We wanted to redesign the trophy to be more affordable for people wanting us to create duplicate trophies for clients and also to ensure the quality and timing of the trophies matched our expectations,” says Interior Awards organiser Nathan Inkpen. “Alistair’s design uses less material and also simplifies the anodising of materials to just gold and silver.” Munro, who has spent time studying in both Lisbon and Montréal, designs across all scales, from architecture…
