WINDOWS 10 & 11 Install apps faster from the Microsoft Store Microsoft now lets you directly download the executable (EXE) files for apps in its store. This means you don’t have to click Install, then wait for your browser to open the Microsoft Store before clicking Install again. It’s a quicker way of installing apps from the Store to your computer. We downloaded the EXE file for Netflix as an example. First, on the app’s page (tinyurl.com/APC536nf), we clicked Download ( 1 in our screenshot above). Next we clicked the pop-up that appeared just below the downloads tray at the top, followed by ‘Download unverified file’ 2 .
