I cannot let the final public unveiling of the Apple Vision Pro headset go without comment. Of course, proof is in the pudding, but I’ll stick my neck out now and say this is possibly the most profound potential change in personal computing for decades. The more I look at the technical details, the implementation and the forthcoming developer platform, the more my jaw drops. Why is it so different, and so important? Because Apple has taken the view that depth perception applies to everything. Not just games, but all day-to-day computing tasks. Reading email, browsing web pages, interacting with others on live streaming, watching a movie. It has to be a general purpose platform, and not one locked into a particular niche.
