The graphics card market needs a reset

And Intel is shaping up as the company to do it.

In this issue (page 34) we review the AMD RX 6500 XT. At $400 or more, it’s a symptom of how damaged the gaming GPU market is. It’s an entry level card at a ridiculous price. But there’s another manufacturer putting the finishing touches on its own gaming cards. Intel. Its upcoming Arc series of GPUs may end up restoring the GPU market. The first Arc products could appear as soon as March. Intel’s Arc GPUs aren’t expected to be 3090 Ti slayers. Rumours indicate that the top tier Arc card could end up around RTX 3070 Ti levels of performance. That’s not stunning relative to Nvidia and AMDs flagships, but if priced right, and available in volume, Arc cards could end up in a lot of gaming machines, particularly…
