AMD Radeon VII GPU to support DLSS-like cloud AA

We too can do cloud-based rendering, says AMD’s Lisa Su.

Nvidia’s Turing GPU brought support for DLSS, a new and proprietary cloud-based neural learning process that analyses your games and, over time improves the anti-aliasing performance. It does this by building up a vast database of game scenes on Nvidia servers, and in theory at least, sending AA instructions down the internet to your PC gaming screen in real time, which not only improves AA fidelity, but also alleviates the load on your GPU. Nvidia’s DLSS only works with the new Turing GPU because it leverages its new Tensor cores, which aren’t present in earlier GPU generations.
