If you’d like to keep Process Explorer running in the background, click Options to open the menu and tick both ‘Hide When Minimised’ and ‘Allow Only One Instance’. This means you’ll always be able to access Process Explorer from the Taskbar notification area, plus you’ll prevent multiple instances of the app from running.
Process Explorer’s icon displays a real-time chart of CPU usage – roll your mouse over it and a pop-up will display overall CPU usage as a percentage along with the most demanding process currently running. You can alter these metrics via Options > Tray Icons. Choices include GPU memory and Commit, which gives you an estimate of how much memory your system may need based on its current usage.
