It’s time to get serious and kick things up to the max for our turbo builds. While the Core i9-12900K is still a beast, there was room for improvement in the AMD build, so we’ve taken a step up from the Ryzen 9 5900X to the top-tier 5950X. Intel’s chip is faster overall, but it’s also a more recent release, so we’ll have to wait for AMD’s 6000 series of CPUs to see if Team Red can claw back ground at the high end. Meanwhile, the AMD system already had a flagship GPU (the RX 6900 XT, in this case, Asrock’s Phantom Gaming D version), but the Intel system was sitting slightly below its maximum graphical potential with an RTX 3080 Ti.
