AMD’s budget Zen 2 processors finally arrive

Are the Ryzen 3 3100X and 3300X the new budget kings?

AMD has launched its Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300X CPUs, rounding out its Ryzen 3000 range. Ryzen 3000 CPUs have been very well received but budget models have been absent from the market until now. Both CPUs are built on the same Zen 2 architecture as the higher end models, and bring four-core and eight-thread computing to all but the very cheapest PCs. The Ryzen 3 3100 features a 3.6GHz base clock and a 3.9GHz boost clock. At just US$99 for an eight-thread processor, it looks like a genuine game changer at the low end of the market. The 3300X has a higher 3.8GHz base clock and a 4.3GHz boost clock. It too offers tremendous value at US$120. Both CPUs come with the added value of a Wraith Stealth cooler.…
