Why a VPN is essential today

WELCOME | EDITORIAL The number of Aussies using a VPN is on the up, and that’s a trend that we’ve watched, generally unsurprised, over the last few years. According to a recent study by IT Wire (tinyurl.com/APC539VPN), in the period between 2020 and 2024 the percentage of Australian using a VPN frequently has climbed from 25.1% to 27.1%. That’s in line with global trends, too, though we’re behind some countries that have seen far greater surges in VPN popularity. China and India lead that charge. The reasons behind especially strong VPN growth in some countries are reasons we thankfully don’t generally have to worry about here in Australia. Security is a huge appeal, and while we all now know and grudgingly (apathetically?) accept that government agencies are spying on everything…
