Taking your pick between resolution, refresh rates, and HDR support is all about remit. Heavy gamers will put a major premium on higher refresh rates, even though they come at a cost. For anyone else, resolution should be their priority in most cases. It gives you more screen real estate, nicer fonts, sharper images, and the ability to see larger images and video files in all their glory.
Money no object? Why not go for both? Simple, because there’s no such thing as a 5K monitor with 120Hz-plus refresh rate. Even 4K monitors with triple-digit refresh have only very recently become available at a painful price.
HDR is more complicated. That’s partly because of the wide range of HDR standards, some of which deliver on the premise much more effectively…
