Mattor och textilier skapar ett varmt och välkomnande hem som inget annat. – Mattor skyddar också mot drag i gamla hus. De är ljudisolerande – bra för grannsämjan hos livliga barnfamiljer eller den som spelar till exempel piano eller fiol. En vacker matta gör sig också bra på väggen, tipsar Anette Granlund, specialist på mattor och textilier på Uppsala Auktionskammare. Orientens mattor har fina färger och symboler med lång historia. De är exempel på en unik folkkonst. Tillverkningen är en lång process med ett mycket stort arbete – från att klippa fårens ull till den färdigknutna mattan. – Äldre mattor har vanligen mer variation i mönster och färger än nytillverkade som kan vara mer intetsägande.
