Unique ‘step pyramid’ found in Kazakhstan

An unprecedented Bronze Age ‘step pyramid’ has been found in Kazakhstan. Its structure is unlike any pyramid design found in Africa. Ancient graves from the Huns and the Saka, nomadic peoples who lived in Central Asia, in Kazakhstan's Abai region have been excavated since 2014 by archaeologists from the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (ENU). At the Kyrykungir complex monument near Toktamys village, they have found ceramics, female gold earrings, and other jewellery. Based on the artefacts, the Kyrykungir pyramid has been dated to the early second millennium BC. Its design differs markedly from the step or true pyramids found in Egypt or the Nubianstyle structures in Ethiopia.
