I have such fond memories of my grandparents’ garden, with beautiful tall dahlia plants topped with all the flower types, from purple pompoms to yellow cactus. My nan also taught me how to propagate them, store them over winter, replant and use upturned strawfilled pots to trap earwigs inside. Don’t ask me what we did next with those earwigs, I feel I’d have a much different approach these days! My grandparents also used to show their dahlias at the local flower shows, winning many prizes through the years.
