Hon gör sig redo. Allt är i ordning. Hon går igenom låda efter låda, granskar smyckena. Lägger tillbaka dem. Håller upp vigselringen som legat i låda tre under sju år. För åtta år sedan satt den fortfarande på hennes finger. Fyllde ingen mening annat än sorgliga minnen. Roliga minnen sa de, tänk på alla roliga minnen. Men när Britt tittar ner på ringen ser hon bara hans tunna kropp i sjukhussängen. Då är det svårt att minnas somrarna i Roslagen, charterresan till Malaga eller första gången han höll i Magda. När Britt visste att hon valt rätt. Denna man är rätt för mig. Han hade hållit upp Magda mot ljuset som med en tusenlapp: – Är hon äkta? Är hon verkligen vår? Britt ser ner på sitt finger där ringen…
