Lucia Silvestri war 18 Jahre alt, als sie zu Bulgari kam. Als Aushilfssekretärin. Bald erkannten die Bulgari-Brüder ihr Potenzial: Silvestri brach das Biologiestudium ab und lernte in der gemmologischen Abteilung des römischen Juweliers, wie man Edelsteine beschafft, schleift und arrangiert. Schon wenig später wurde sie zur Chefeinkäuferin befördert, seit 2013 ist sie auch Kreativdirektorin der Haute Joaillerie. Ein Job, der sie seit nunmehr 40 Jahren um die ganze Welt führt. Jaipur, New York, Antwerpen, Colombo: Vor Corona waren Sie ständig unterwegs, immer auf der Suche nach neuen Steinen. Wie lief das während der Pandemie? Es war alles sehr schwierig, vor allem am Anfang. Denn natürlich können wir keine Edelsteine über Zoom kaufen. Anschauen, klar, aber am Ende muss ich sie vor mir sehen, mich mit ihnen unterhalten.
